CHAMPAIGN, Ill. - CHAMPAIGN -- Busey Bank is warning customers about a scam. Hackers use mobile phone text messages to steal your identity. It's known as SMS phishing or SMiShing.
The fraudulent text messages send customers to fake websites where personal data, common passwords and financial information are then stolen.
The messages are coming from a "busey.com" email address, but bank officials say they are not from the bank. They say they would never contact you to ask about this type of information.
They warn, if you inadvertently responded and passed on your banking or personal information, you should contact your bank immediately.
SPRINGFIELD -- Luke Miller may be gone, but he's certainly not forgotten.
