Battle of first responders benefits families in need

MACON COUNTY -- Police and firefighters went head-to-head to help families in need. The Guns Versus Hoses Bell Ringing Contest took place over the weekend.

The groups battled each other ring-for-ring in an effort to raise money for the Salvation Army. The Decatur Fire Department came out on top. Crew raised almost $4,000.

County firefighters were a close second with $3,500. All together, the groups raised more than $12,000 for families in need.
