URBANA -- Police are investigating an accident between a car and a bicycle. It happened about 5:30 pm Thursday.
The bike rider, 24-year old Lindsey Snell, was hit while turning left from Coler to Oregon. Police say the driver of the car, 25-year old Case Freeman, drove for two more blocks after hitting Snell, and crashed into a tree. Witnesses say he walked north one block and collapsed.
Both were taken to the hospital. Snell suffered head trauma. She's currently in critical condition. Officials found cold medicines inside Freeman's vehicle, and say he admitted taking various products for a head cold. He was arrested for aggravated driving under the influence and disobeying a stop sign.
Authorities believe there may be more witnesses with information that could further the investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
