ILLINOIS (WCIA) -- A lawmaker is trying to end the state's teacher shortage.
State Representative Sue Scherer (D), of Decatur, is leading the charge to require a minimum base salary for full-time teachers.
She says the bill will help teachers receive livable wages, especially with many prospective teachers dealing with massive student loan debt.
The bill has already received support from the Illinois Education Association.
