EVANSTON -- The National Labor Relations Board in Chicago says football players at Northwestern University are employees and can unionize. The players' petition was a way to get a seat at the bargaining table in college sports. It could change the landscape of the NCAA model.

Players say they're seeking better medical coverage, concussion testing, four year scholarships and the possibility of being paid. Northwestern University will appeal the ruling stating players are students and not employees. The NCAA says it was "disappointed" with the board's ruling.
