Busey launches United Way campaign

CHAMPAIGN -- Something as simple as a "like" or "follow" on Facebook can help people in your community. Busey Bank launched its social media campaign Monday to benefit the United Way.

If you like Busey's Facebook page, or follow it on Twitter or Pinterest, $2 will be donated. If you share a status or re-tweet the campaign, it's another $1.

Sue Grey is president of Champaign County's United Way. She says it is an easy way to make a difference.

"It's bus tokens for folks at the food pantries or soup kitchen. It's transportation for seniors to medical appointments. It all boils down to real tangible community impact being done with a simple click."

The campaign raised $2,600 last year. The money is divided among seven area United Way offices. The campaign wraps up October 21.
