Business considers buying building on base

RANTOUL, Ill. (WCIA) -- A building on the former Chanute Air Force Base could have new life. A real estate company has offered to buy the old fire station for more than $22,000.

The fire station has been vacant for years and needs a number of upgrades including electrical, plumbing and a new roof.

Village leaders say the company plans to use it for business operations.

The sale is expected to be approved by the village board Tuesday.
