CHAMPAIGN-URBANA -- A $300,000 gift will help people get the healthcare they need. The donation comes from a big name in Central Illinois; Jimmy John Liautaud.

It's not the first time he's given money to "Promise Healthcare." He was a major supporter to the Frances Nelson Dental Center when it was first built. He donated $50,000 to the dental center in 2011.

That's just one part of the "Promise Healthcare" group. It also includes Frances Nelson Health Center and SmileHealthy. Most patients there are either low-income, don't have insurance or are on Medicaid.

The group's executive director says this will be a big help. Promise Healthcare gives people medical and mental healthcare and also offers dental services to people in the community.

Some pay as little as $10 for an appointment so group leaders say the money is definitely needed. Liautaud told leaders he believes in their mission and he's happy to support their efforts in the community.
