CHICAGO -- A lot of Cubs' fans may find this hard to swallow. The 400-pound cake created for Wednesday's 100th celebration ended up in a dumpster.
The Cubs issued this statement:
The Chicago Cubs are disappointed in how our Wrigley Field display cake was
disposed following a charity event. The team made a decision not to serve the
edible portion after the cake was on display outside most of the day. Though
the cake was mostly made up of non-edible material, it certainly doesn't
excuse how it was handled.
CHICAGO -- A major milestone was celebrated at Wrigley Field Wednesday. It's the park's 100th birthday. Here's a look at the official cake on display outside the park. Festivities for the afternoon game against the Arizona Diamondbacks included 30,000 retro jersey giveaways, 10,000 cupcakes and special guests.
