They're not just in Champaign District Schools. They're in the Urbana, Rantoul School Districts - and looking to expand beyond that. Crime Stoppers and the school put up posters. They ask students to call, text, even go on-line to submit tips. As the year sets in, they've started seeing results.
"One of the things the poster have done is sort of open the door to talking with kids," says Officer Brandon Thomas. He works as a school resource officer in Central High School. "Everything about major felonies to information on runaways."
Crime Stoppers is looking to expand even more this year. It'll be putting up those posters in fraternities and sororities at the U of I. It plans to branch out to dorms on campus too.
