Child care costs outpace college tuition

NATIONAL -- The cost of child care is so high in some parts of the country, it's now more expensive than tuition at some state colleges. That's according to a report from Child Care Aware of America.

The data shows child care costs rose an average of 3% nationwide. States were ranked with the highest score possible of 150. Illinois ranked eighth best with 108 points.

The average cost per year for an infant in Illinois is just over $12,000. It's about $9,000 for kids. For more information, click here.
