CHAMPAIGN -- City council chambers have closed while workers give the place a facelift. They plan to patch and paint the walls, replace ceiling tiles and update lighting. There will also be almost $300,000 worth of new AV equipment, like speakers and microphones.

Project leaders say they've already done a lot, but there's more to do. The old equipment was 12 years old. They plan to sell or donate things which work, while recycling things which don't. City workers are helping with the project. After they're done, all the equipment will be HD quality.
