City looks for grant to improve street safety

DANVILLE -- Many residents are complaining about what they call a dangerous intersection, and it appears, city leaders may be listening. Changes could be coming to Voorhees and Lynch. Officials are looking for grant money from IDOT to fix it.

There have been more than 50 accidents there over the past three years. One person was killed. People say the changes are desperately needed. The city hopes to get $30,000 in grant money. The state would then decide when construction could start.

DANVILLE -- An area intersection is downright dangerous, but the city is Taking Action to make it safer. Changes could be coming to the intersection of Voorhees Street and Lynch Road.

City leaders are looking for grant money from IDOT to fix it. WCIA-3's Erica Quednau spoke to people who say the changes are desperately needed.

The city hopes to get $33,000 in grant money. If it does get the money, it will be up to the state when construction can begin.
