CHAMPAIGN -- City leaders are hosting events where anyone can speak with the mayor while they’re out shopping. It’s called the Working Family City Office Hours. It’s for families who can’t take care of city issues during the week.

People were out shopping, but nobody had any business to handle with the mayor. Some people took brochures and said "hello" but, overall it was quiet.

Mayor Gerard says it’s the first session and he’s hoping each session brings more people in. There will be three more sessions. He hopes to expand the event to churches and other groups in Champaign. The events will be at County Markets and Market Place Mall.
