Classmates score perfect 36 on ACT

PIATT COUNTY -- Two Monticello High School students got perfect scores on their ACT's. It's an accomplishment the school hasn't had in more than ten years.

Getting a 36 is not something you hear about very often. It happens, but is usually rare. Eric Tate and Jack Knittle are juniors.

Both say they took practice tests and prepped the best they could ahead of time. But, neither expected to hit the perfect score. Tate took his test earlier this year; Knittle, just last month.

They say, when they found out, they couldn't believe their eyes. The students say they've heard it's the first time in 15-years someone has gotten a perfect score, let alone two in the same class.

Tate and Knittle both plan to go to college, but neither has decided where yet.

More than two million students, nationwide, have taken the test this school year. About 2,200 have been a perfect score or one-tenth of one-percent of all test-takers.
