DANVILLE -- City transportation leaders are working to get back on the road. As of Wednesday, most buses are running on Danville Mass Transit routes. It includes those going through the city and other nearby towns.

One that's still on hold is the route from Danville to Champaign. The public transportation director says I-74 has been too dangerous to send buses on so far this week.

"We have several folks who are on dialysis and live in Danville but receive care in Champaign," said director John Metzinger. "Those folks have been on top of our minds as we're planning the need for service."

He says many people also catch a ride to Champaign for work or school.

There are usually eight round-trip routes every weekday. The director says he expects to have those routes running by Thursday.
