UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS -- For the second straight year, the UI is proposing a 1.7% tuition increase for incoming freshmen. That means students would pay about $200 more per year.

The Board of Trustees will vote on the recommendation at its meeting next week. The increase is in line with a policy which aims to keep student cost increases at or below the rate of inflation.
