The classes are filling up by the thousands, but, the Danville Police Department hasn't even finished going through the ins-and-outs of it, let alone training. They did say police aren't sure these classes will cover everything.
You have to take the 16-hours class to carry a gun. You learn about firearm safety, how to load and fire it. There's also a background check. The state expects 400,000 people to take a class.
Officers hope they help, but they're not sold. As for police, there will be training, but not everyone's sure what that entails. First offenders caught without a concealed-carry license will face misdemeanor charges.
