Conflict over mine using city's water

HOMER -- A small town is worried about its water supply now that a coal mine wants to move in.
Indiana-based "Sunrise Coal," wants to build a mine in Homer. It will use a lot of water to get the job done.

People went to the Village Board meeting Monday night to voice concerns. They're worried about the town's water supply. Others are happy about the revenue the mine could bring in. The issue has divided the town so deeply this woman didn't want to show her face.

"This is a wonderful community. It's a clean community. I'm not sure how clean it will be after a coal mine comes. I hear about the dust that filters through the air, I just don't think that's something I'd like to see in my community. It's too good for that," said Pat Parvel.

The decision will be made at September's board meeting.
