CHAMPAIGN -- Summer decided to let us feel the heat this last week of August. Area cooling centers are available for those who prefer to avoid the warm climate.

The Times Center, in Champaign, is open, but hasn't seen a lot of visitors. The supervisor says it's usually busy during the winter because people know it's a place they can get warm, but not everyone is aware it's open when temperatures hit the mid-90's.

Public places like the Phoenix, the mall or the library tend to be used more often, but they close earlier than the Times Center. It's open until 10 pm, every night.
