MACON COUNTY -- After months of planning and controversy, the Macon County Festival finished up. In April, the Fair Association decided to cut many events including livestock and other shows, turning the fair into more of a festival.

Attendance has been down over the last few years. Despite all the financial troubles, the fair board wanted to keep the festivities affordable. The six-day event ends with its major draw; the demolition derby.
