Courthouse Changes Coming

SHELBYVILLE -- County board members approved $1.5 million in courthouse renovations. Funding for the project will come from the county's sale of coal and gas rights.
Renovations will include fixing stairways, replacing shingles and improving the main entrance. The biggest addition is a new heating and cooling system. The last retrofit was nearly 50-years ago.
The new system should help save money. Board members initially voted against the renovation because they didn't have enough information.
The board will start accepting bids Wednesday. Renovations should be completed by winter.
