GIFFORD -- Federal and state EMA crews spent Thursday inspecting parts of town. They've been walking around assessing damage.

This crew is one of five in the state interviewing homeowners about what happened Sunday and what's left. They could decide whether the community qualifies for government assistance since every disaster is different. There's no set formula to decide whether communities get money or not.

FEMA says it's not sure how long the process will take, but workers will be inspecting other parts of Champaign and Douglas counties and other surrounding communities later this week.
