URBANA -- Urbana's Crisis Nursery is facing a crisis of its own. It's lost more than half of its volunteers.

The nursery is a safe haven for children who come from unstable homes. Most of its volunteers are UI students. Since it's summer, the number of volunteers has dropped from 150 to 40.

"We need to have volunteers here who make this environment stable for them. Give them a nurturing, loving, safe environment where they can have fun but they can also express their emotions. So it's really important that we have volunteers who can come into the nursery and be that family that they don't have."

To find out how you can become a volunteer you can call Crisis Nursery at (217)337-2731 or go to their website at www.crisisnursery.net.
