DANVILLE -- The school board met Wednesday night. Several teacher RIF (reduction in force) notices were issued. Superintendent Mark Denman says five cuts were made; four of which were teachers. Some could be hired back. Also, a vote was made to eliminate summer school for elementary students. That decision could be changed if funding becomes available.
DANVILLE -- Budget concerns are threatening some summer school classes. Wednesday, district leaders will consider cutting the program for elementary students. About ten percent use it.
Officials say there is just not enough money right now to offer the program, but they hope it could change before the school year is over. Wednesday's recommendation would keep summer school for middle and high school as well as special education students.
