CHAMPAIGN -- County Market, Ace Hardware and now a Hilton Hotel will soon have new addresses. The Carriage Center is a 17-acre lot. Replacing car dealers will be the first extended-stay Hilton Hotel in the state. WCIA-3's Anthony Antoine has the story.

Business leaders are looking forward to the development. This land may not look like much, but space on this lot is being sold for nearly $1-million.

The new hotel is just another reason why small businesses are excited for increased traffic. Kristi Toms has worked at the tanning salon for two years.

"The first year, it was very good, very busy. This last year, we've been a little slower. We dropped about half the clientele we had. We are so far down here, I don't think as many people know that we're here, but that's going to change."

The Carriage Center was home to car dealerships. Now, they're on I-74 and Marketview Drive. To relocate, the city agreed to give the dealerships $6-million in tax breaks the next 12-years.

"With all the events taking place in Champaign, such as the marathon, the Illinois Coaches Conference, football games, graduations, there's a lot of events that bring a lot of people."

Now, Steve Horve says he will open a 106-room hotel to bring much-needed traffic to the area.

"We have a number of denials at our other two hotels where we are full and we can refer those, to start with, to this new hotel."

"I think it will bring a lot of traffic to that location."

Matt Wavering is selling the property. He says the response has been great and the value of the property will continue to grow.

"Because of a development like this, we've had more calls and more discussions with other clients who own other properties on South Neil that are now starting to consider redeveloping."

"We're hoping it brings plenty of business."

There are other extended-stay hotels in the area. This is the first Hilton. It will create 20-jobs. Construction starts May 2014 and should be completed by March 2015.
