DANVILLE -- The Danville Mass Transit Department wants to increase safety on buses. Leaders hope a "Rider Code of Conduct" can help them get there.

Even though buses have cameras, drivers come into dangerous situations. It often involves riders assaulting each other or even the driver. This will be another level to hold people accountable.

The guidelines for the Code of Conduct aren't finalized, but the department met with employees to start gathering ideas. They'll go over recommendations and make a final decision, but riders are looking forward to it.

The department is also thinking about additional training for drivers to handle violent situations. DMT will seek rider input.
