CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. - CHAMPAIGN COUNTY -- Some doctors stepped in to help other doctors in need. Workers at Frances Nelson Healthcare noticed their EKG machine wasn't working last year. They had to stop using it because it wasn't giving accurate information, but they didn't have the money to replace it. When doctors at Carle found out, they started a collection to buy them a new one.
"It's very popular," said Nancy Greenwalt, who is the executive director at Promise Healthcare, which includes Frances Nelson. "We use it every day. So now if one of my providers suspects something, they're able to get a test here."
"Whatever I have built of myself, everything in this place, is because of people's trust in us and you need to give back to those people who are really in need," said Carle cardiologist Dr. Sanjay Mehta.
The new machine is worth more than $8,000.
