Drought drying golf greens

NORMAL -- Thursday's rain probably didn't do much to help golf courses. Many are drying up in Central Illinois, including Ironwood. The town has stopped irrigating the course to save water, but it's still taking care of the greens.

In fact, a second neighborhood lake is now being used to keep them fresh. The greens require 44,000 gallons of water a day. Using a second lake buys the town an extra 50-days, give or take. Leaders are looking at other options if it doesn't rain soon since neglecting the greens would be too costly.
