Eagles player makes EIU proud!

EASTERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY (WCIA) -- Congratulations to the one Illini player in Sunday's Super Bowl. Guard Ted Karras once again took to the field with the New England Patriots.

When it comes to big game appearances though, it's tough to top the Eastern Illinois Panthers. Sunday, linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill became a world champion with the Eagles.

He becomes the latest EIU grad to win the Lombardi Trophy. The Panthers are now 8 - 0 in Super Bowl games as players and head coaches.

Jimmy Garoppolo won two rings as back-up QB for the Pats; offensive lineman Ted Petersen won two with the Steelers in the 70's; Sean Payton and Mike Shanahan both coached teams to wins: Payton with the Saints and Shanahan twice with the Broncos.
