CHARLESTON,Ill. (WCIA) -- Crews are on the scene of a fire at Mother's Bar.
Monroe Street is currently closed down, the roof of the building has partially collapsed and officials say the apartments are a total loss. Engineers are also currently working to get the street cleared.
Fire crews got this call just before 2 am, Friday and are still working to control the smoke.
The fire started in the apartments above Mother's Bar. Officials rescued five people and no one was hurt. Officials say they're not able to get inside the building to assess the damage yet.
The owners of Mike and Stan's, next door, they say it's sustained smoke damage, but should be alright.
The Red Cross says it's working with the property manager to get people from those apartments housed temporarily.
