CHARLESTON -- School leaders at Eastern Illinois University are cracking down on parties after a shooting this past Sunday morning. University representatives say they are suspending any late night dances put on by registered student organizations.

It is not a permanent change, but this will be the rule until school leaders can assess security measures. Charleston Mayor Larry Rennels says safety is a top priority across the city.

"Incidents like this kind of scare people sometimes. Safety for the students, that's just as important. We're all part of this community and we're concerned about the safety of everyone."

Two people were shot and one person was beaten at a frat party. Phi Beta Sigma hosted the barn dance. Vice President for Student Affairs Daniel Nadler says they'll try to help reschedule late night dances which get canceled.
