Email threat forces evacuation; nothing found

Nothing found, no one hurt

LEROY, Ill. (WCIA) -- Friday morning, students at LeRoy Junior/Senior High School were evacuated after authorities received an email indicating a threat in the building.

District leaders say they received the email just after 10 am. Despite indications it was a spam email, officials determined the building should be evacuated.

First responders and school administrators performed a sweep of the building but found nothing suspicious.

Parents were notified by an active alert system.

Students and staff were allowed back into the building about 11:15 am. The incident is under investigation.
