ILLINOIS -- Wednesday, Governor Quinn will sign same-sex marriage into Illinois' law books. While he's doing that, a Catholic bishop says he'll be praying to overcome sin.

Bishop Thomas John Paprocki will hold a prayer ceremony in Springfield. He's inviting people to gather at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception to offer "prayers of supplication and exorcism in reparation for the sin of same-sex marriage."

Paprocki says he's holding the service because same-sex marriage is against God's plan. Proponents of the new law say people should stop judging.

In a release for the Diocese of Springfield, Paprocki is quoted as saying, "We must pray for deliverance from this evil which has penetrated our state and our church."
