CHAMPAIGN -- Despite extra security, excitement at Memorial Stadium was running high for the Christie Clinic Illinois Marathon.

"It was so fun," said Elisabeth Peretta, "Everyone was so into it."

Peretta sat in the stands to cheer on her friends. She said it would've been nice to meet them on the field, but still felt great to watch them from afar. Fans have never been allowed on the field at the finish line, but marathon security enforced it this year because of the Boston Marathon bombing.
