SPRINGFIELD -- The manager of the State Fair is answering questions about being fined. Amy Bliefnick accepted beer vouchers which broke ethics rules. She says she made a mistake accepting the tickets. They totaled about $500 last year.
She says she gave them out to employees, volunteers and fair-goers. Bliefnick was fined $1,000 and suspended for two days without pay earlier this week.
SPRINGFIELD -- It's just weeks before the Illinois State Fair is set to open, but two managers are under fire for taking free beer coupons. The Executive Inspector General's Office found the managers took hundreds of dollars worth of beer tickets. This violates the state's ethics law.
Each manager has had to pay more than $1,000 in fines. Amy Bliefnick is the manager of the State Fair. She admitted to taking vouchers in excess of $500 each year. She's been suspended for two days without pay.
