Fatal motorcycle-semi accident

DECATUR -- We now know more about the man killed in a motorcycle accident Thursday. 58-year old Kent Smith was hit and killed after colliding with a semi-truck.

It happened on North Brush College Road. Police say Smith suddenly turned around and ran into the semi. He sustained massive injuries to his head and torso. Officials say he wasn't wearing a helmet and think he was speeding.

DECATUR -- One man was killed when a motorcycle hit a semi-truck. It happened about 11 am in the 2500-block of Brush College Road. It's in front of the ADM plant.

Authorities say the motorcyclist was speeding northbound and hit the truck as it turned from one of the plant's driveways into another. The cycle skidded underneath the truck and was dragged.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a helmet and it's believed the cause of death is severe head trauma.

Authorities are conducting an investigation with eyewitness statements and surveillance video. The victim's name has not yet been released.
