VERMILION COUNTY -- Crews are on the scene of a fire in Hoopeston. Firefighters got a call around 5:30 am about a fire at a tire recycling company near Market Street and Route 9.

Hoopeston Fire Chief, Cliff Crabtree says he believes the fire started from a spark in a loading dock. Crabtree says the building was engulfed when they arrived on scene. He says they immediately went into a defensive mode to fight the fire and keep it from spreading.

Crabtree says he expects the fire to burn for several days. Since tires are burning, air quality checks are taking place in the area to see what, if any, pollutants are in the air.
