BLOOMINGTON -- A McLean County coroner's jury ruled the death of a Hudson firefighter accidental but avoidable. Chris Brown, who was also a full time firefighter in Bloomington, died of multiple blunt force injuries in March after being hit by a semi truck.

He was helping stranded drivers at the time of the crash. Six other firemen were hurt in that same accident.

The jury ruled the accident was avoidable on the part of Mansur Shakirov's alleged failure to keep a proper look out, driving too fast for conditions and violating Scott's law. Shakirov has been indicted on a charge of reckless homicide.
