Firefighter killed responding to call

WEST UNION -- A community is mourning the loss of a firefighter. Lance Stone died in a crash Saturday. The coroner says he was on his way to a call when it happened.

Police say Stone drove off the road and was thrown from the car. Coworkers say he became a firefighter after experiencing a fire. They say he just wanted to help others.

This is the second time the town has seen a similar tragedy. Two years ago, they lost a paramedic in a crash.
