PARIS -- People will have a firework-free 4th of July this year. City leaders decided it would be too dangerous for a display.

There have been 4-fires in the last 24-hours around town because of extremely dry conditions.   People are disappointed but they understand it's for safety.

"All the trees and all the grass are very dry and trees are actually catching on fire here all around town so with fireworks it's just going to make it worse," says Abby Reed a Paris resident.

The fire department says the rest of the 4th activities will take place as planned. Fireworks may also be rescheduled for September.
