CHAMPAIGN COUNTY -- Driving was dangerous Thursday night on some area roads after the storm.
Crews responded to a car trapped in water just west of Mahomet. It happened on Route 150 near the Champaign - Piatt county line. The driver was able to escape unharmed.
The road was covered by about a foot of water. The section of Route 150, near Spring Lake Road, is closed for the rest of the night. Police say they don't want to take any chances.
So far, Champaign County deputies say they've responded to five stranded drivers. Authorities say they are out of road signs, so you may not know which roads are actually impassable.
CHAMPAIGN COUNTY -- Officials have closed Route 150 by Spring Lake Road between Mahomet and Mansfield for the night. There's a report of about a foot of water on the roadway.
Earlier, crews responded to a car in the water. The driver was able to escape without injury and the car has been towed from the scene.
CHAMPAIGN COUNTY -- Crews are responding to a car-water rescue. It's on Route 150 near the Piatt County-Champaign County line, west of Mahomet. No word on injuries at this time. We have a crew en route and will update this story as more information is available.
