CHAMPAIGN -- A former school board candidate hopes to get a second chance at a seat. Chuck Jackson lost in April's election, but just a few days ago 4-year member Stig Lanesskog resigned. It opens up a seat Jackson hopes to secure.

Unit 4 now has 45 days to fill the seat. To Jackson, it's a second chance to get the job he's passionate about.

"Since 2007 I've been PTA president, been in district committees and many other things. It's just an extension, it's another way to further try to make Champaign schools as good as they can be," Jackson said.

John Williams, the other candidate who lost in April, could not be reached for comment.
