CHAMPAIGN COUNTY -- A former UI band director pleaded guilty to stealing thousands of dollars worth of instruments from the department. Police arrested Robert Rumbelow last year after someone complained to the university ethics office.

Now, Champaign County court records show Rumbelow pleaded guilty to stealing the instruments. In August of 2012, UI police say their investigation showed Rumbelow sold more than $50,000 dollars worth of instruments to schools and collectors within a two-year span.

Police say he deposited that money into his own bank account. Court records show Rumbelow's financial obligations should be paid in equal, monthly installments to the Circuit Clerk by July 14, 2014.
