Machyliana Tovar of Atwood saw the Prayers for Morgan Facebook page. Her first thought was, "She's 14, she shouldn't have to go through this, nobody should. So we'll do anything we can to help her."
Morgan suffers from hydrocephalus. It causes fluid to build up around the brain, leading to intense headaches, sickness and even death. Nearly all of those symptoms showed up suddenly Friday.
Morgan survived the scare, but her road to recovery is far from over. One thing's for sure, she won't go it alone.
Dakota Connor said she wants to give everything she can.
"I've never met her but I would do anything for that girl. I feel so bad for her and I just want to try. A benefit is the perfect start."
Several others from across Illinois showed support on the Facebook page. But these youngsters are taking it one step further by planning a week's worth of fundraisers, culminating with a benefit walk at a Tuscola park.
The benefit will be Saturday, August 10, at Ervin Park. The walk starts at 10 am. There will also be a poker run, bake sale and more at the event.
