DANVILLE -- A high school choir is getting closer to its goal to get to a national competition. Danville High's show choir earned a spot at the national competition in Chicago.

But they need $20,000 to pay for the trip. Students have raised more than $8,000 already and director Kassy Krause said they're not done yet.

"It's a really great group of kids and parents and the community has been very supportive to give these kids a once in a lifetime opportunity," said Krause.
"We are hopeful. We are optimistic. We will make it happen."

The students are selling candy bars at school. And they'll have a fundraiser Friday, April 12, to earn more money at a district-wide singing and dancing performance. It's called "An Evening of Singing and Dancing" and several groups will perform.

Doors open at 6 pm for the raffles and the show starts at 7 pm at Danville High auditorium. Tickets are $5. Proceeds from raffles at the event go toward the show choir.
