RANTOUL -- If it feels like gas prices have been a bit of a roller coaster lately, you should see what they look like around Champaign County. On average, drivers are paying about $2.83 per gallon in Rantoul at gas stations just off I-57.

People from the area say that's because a Super Pantry just opened near the highway and other stations are trying to keep up. Drivers we spoke with say they don't care why it's happening. They're just happy it is.

"I love it," said Judy Bice, who lives in Armstrong. "I love it because I work in Danville and the gas prices over there are outrageous. I'm this close and I have to come over here to do the grocery shopping, so why not?"

Champaign drivers are paying about 50 more cents per gallon; about $3.39. People in Danville and Decatur are shelling out about $3.20 per gallon. Drivers around Rantoul say they know the low prices won't stay forever, but they'll enjoy them as long as they can.
