URBANA -- Cemeteries across the country will be covered in American flags this Memorial Day weekend. Locally, thanks to a group of Girl Scouts, heroes resting in Urbana will have their tribute.

Close to 30 girls from Troop 2222 went to East Lawn Cemetery Saturday. The American Legion gave them a map and names of former soldiers. The girls walked from grave to grave planting the flags.

It's their way of saying "thank you" to those who gave their lives for their country. A few Boy Scouts joined the girls planting the flags. More than 100 were put down.
