CHICAGO -- People learning to work in construction could get more help finding a job. The state is expanding a program to help apprentices. It encourages contractors to hire young workers to give them a start.

The state was kicking in $10/hour for each worker to help cover costs. Now, it will give companies $15/hour. The governor hopes more jobs will open up. The state plans to invest $1 billion in capital projects.
