ILLINOIS -- The governor is requesting federal aid for areas affected by tornadoes. Earlier this month, he asked President Obama to declare fifteen counties major disaster areas. They include Champaign, Douglas and Vermilion.

If approved, low-interest loans would be available to people and businesses. An assessment last week found almost 2,500 homes were damaged and nearly 800 homes were destroyed.
